The qualifications and programmes listed below are covered under the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (TTAF). TTAF will pay the fees on behalf of learners* enrolled in these qualifications and programmes. This list is relevant to Private Training Establishments, Te Pūkenga, Universities, and Wānanga.
All apprenticeships existing as at 1 June 2020 (effectively April 2020 for TEOs using the SDR) are eligible, with further apprenticeships included at the TEC’s discretion. As previously indicated, microcredentials in the targeted areas (at sub-degree levels 3-7) are also eligible for TTAF.
Eligible qualifications and programmes under the additional target areas will be available in early 2021.
Industry training (work-based) TTAF programmes, including apprenticeships, offered by transitional Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) can be found on each transitional ITO’s website. These programmes are not currently listed on our website due to the large number of programmes available.
A current list of Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs), grouped by target area and that offer an apprenticeship, qualification or programme covered under the TTAF can be found on our website at the following link:
TEOs offering TTAF qualifications and programmes
These qualifications are part of the initial target areas, announced in May by Education Minister Hon Chris Hipkins. They are areas where demand from employers continues to be strong or is expected to grow during New Zealand’s recovery from Covid-19.
We will update this list and consider other qualifications and programmes, which meet the programme eligibility criteria and where TEC has discretion, to be included over time.
Refer to www.careers.govt.nz for more info on courses and career options. Please contact your local Private Training Establishment, Te Pūkenga, University, or Wānanga to ask how you can enrol in these programmes and qualifications.
* Learners must be eligible to receive tuition subsidies under the SAC 3+ Fund, or the Industry Training Fund.
