Deadline for first-year Fees Free

Learners who began tertiary study or work-based learning in 2024 or earlier have until 31 December 2025 to confirm their eligibility or submit an appeal for first-year Fees Free. After this date, they will no longer be able to submit a statutory declaration or appeal their entitlement.

Final-year Fees Free is now in place

From 1 January 2025, the Government has replaced first-year Fees Free with final-year Fees Free. This applies to learners who started tertiary study or work-based learning for the first time from 2025.
