  1. Chancellor or council Chair writes to the Minister on behalf of the council setting out the amendment required and the reasons for it
  2. The Minister refers the amendment to the TEC for advice about whether it complies with the legislative requirements; the Minister may also want to know whether the proposed amendment is aligned with good governance
  3. If the TEC and/or the Minister has any queries, the TEC will contact the Chancellor or council Chair and this may extend the timeline
  4. The TEC provides advice to the Minister; assuming all is well, the draft constitution will be included for the Minister to approve (and in the form to be published in the Gazette) together with a draft letter to the Chancellor or council Chair
  5. Once the Minister provides approval the TEC arranges publication of the amended constitution in the Gazette; this process of electronic publishing by the Gazette takes only a few days
  6. The TEC send the link to the Gazette notice to the Chancellor or council Chair
