Please work with your Web Content, Student Services, Marketing and Communications teams to make these changes to your website, published information, marketing and advertising products.
Update your website to direct learners to Inland Revenue
Please:
- keep your web content simple and direct learners to Fees Free – Inland Revenue
- do not publish the eligibility criteria, so your learners can get the most up-to-date information from Fees Free – Inland Revenue
- remove any links to the Fees Free website on your site
- remove the TEC’s contact details for Fees Free support.

Update any final-year Fees Free communication, information, marketing and advertising products
Please update all your Fees Free communication, information, marketing and advertising products including email templates, brochures, flyers, advertisements to:
- direct learners to Fees Free – Inland Revenue
- remove any links to the Fees Free website
- remove the TEC’s contact details for Fees Free support.
Remove, and stop using, the Fees Free logo
The logo features the URL to the Fees Free website, which has been decommissioned. Please:
- remove the Fees Free logo from your website, information, marketing and advertising products
- direct learners, their families and friends to Fees Free – Inland Revenue.
Key messages for you to use from 6 October
When engaging with learners about Fees Free please use the refreshed key messages in the Communications pack for TEOs – final-year Fees Free.
Changes to Fees Free and TEC websites
With learners going to Inland Revenue for final-year Fees Free information, we will make changes to the Fees Free and TEC websites.
The Fees Free website is no longer active
From 29 May 2026, a redirect is in place for feesfree.govt.nz to send learners to Fees Free – Inland Revenue (ird.govt.nz/fees-free).
