This page presents a recording of a 2018 workshop on using data to inform organisation-wide decision-making, along with background information.
In 2018, a range of workshops were co-delivered by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER) and the National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults.
They included:
- a range of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT) user levels from beginner to competent
- utilising literacy and numeracy data to inform whole organisation decision making, and
- use of LNAAT results to inform teaching and learning practice.
Each workshop was specific for its intended audience.
Ensuring the constant improvement of Embedded Literacy and Numeracy (ELN) at organisational, academic and programme levels requires that specific benchmarks be identified and measured appropriately.
In the Mining data to make decisions across the whole organisation workshop, five benchmarks were presented, in addition to a data utilisation model that describes how data can be used to inform the relevant levels of an educational organisation.
The benchmarks reviewed in this workshop can each be informed by data generated by the LNAAT. We recommend this material be a starting point for organisations to explore their vision for ELN, select appropriate benchmarks, and begin to use the LNAAT data to implement a continuous improvement model.
