  • NSI

    National Student Index is a database maintained by the Ministry of Education.  The purpose of the application is to allocate a unique identifier, the National Student Number, to every student enrolled with an education provider in New Zealand.

  • NZQA

    New Zealand Qualifications Authority.  The Crown entity charged with ensuring that New Zealand qualifications are robust and credible nationally and internationally.

  • NZRoA

    New Zealand Record of Achievement. This is the official transcript of all the New Zealand qualifications, micro-credentials and standards a learner has achieved, including NCEA. The NZRoA is held at NZQA. (This replaces the acronym ‘ROA’.) 

  • NZSCED

    New Zealand Standard Classification of Education codes are used to classify courses and qualifications at tertiary level by field of study.

  • Off-Plan funding

    Funding that is not approved via an Investment Plan and is paid by the TEC to TEOs under section 428 of the Education and Training Act.

  • Off-Plan Funds

    Funds to which section 428 of the Education and Training Act apply.

  • OIC

    Order in Council (OIC) is a type of secondary legislation that is made by the Executive Council presided over by the Governor-General.

  • On-Plan funding

    Funding that is approved via an Investment Plan and is paid by the TEC to TEOs pursuant to section 425 of the Education and Training Act.

  • On-Plan Funds

    Funds to which section 425 of the Education and Training Act applies.
