Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark to help remove barriers to learning
The Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark (DFQM) is an initiative to help neurodiverse learners know that an organisation is a safe place for them, where they understand and meet their needs.
Developed by Ako Aotearoa the DFQM will recognise organisations that take a strategic approach to creating an inclusive environment for learners, trainees, or clients with dyslexia.
“We encourage all tertiary education organisations to use this opportunity to be accredited as a dyslexia-friendly organisation,” says Paora Ammunson Deputy Chief Executive, Tertiary Education Commission.
“Adopting the Mark will promote best practice within organisations and not only build educator capability, but most of all, it will ensure that learners with dyslexia are fully supported in their learning journey and have every opportunity to thrive.”
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is proud to support Ako Aotearoa in developing this exciting initiative which aligns to our wider programme of work around neurodiversity.
