  • Search and Rescue Fund

    The Search and Rescue Fund supports search and rescue volunteers to get the training and accreditation they need to perform search and rescue operations.

  • Selected entry programme

    A programme where for tertiary education institutions (TEIs) only, the council of the TEI has determined that there is a maximum number of learners that may be enrolled in a particular programme in a particular year if the council is satisfied that it is necessary to do so because of insufficiency of staff, accommodation, or equipment; or restrictions on enrolments are set out in a Funding Mechanism (eg, medicine, dentistry, aviation).

  • Single Data Return (SDR)

    The Single Data Return is the set of data items that are specifically required by the Ministry of Education and the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for funding, monitoring performance, and publishing performance information, as well as statistical reporting purposes.

  • Skills Highway

    Skills Highway is a workplace literacy and numeracy initiative that provides funding and resources to support employees’ literacy, numeracy and communication skills. 

  • Skills standards

    Skills standards are the building blocks of work-based qualifications and credentials and will replace unit standards. 

  • Special Supplementary Grant for Inclusive Education (SSG)

    he Special Supplementary Grant for Inclusive Education (SSG) is a “top-up” to Delivery at Levels 1 and 2 on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (DQ1-2) funding, to help cover the costs of providing extra support for Supported Learners’ qualifications on the NZQCF. SSG is not intended to be the only or primary source of funding to support these learners. 

  • Standard-setting bodies (SSBs)

    Standard-setting bodies are responsible for the qualifications, credentials and standards listed by NZQA on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) and the Directory of Assessment and Skills Standards (DASS). They work with industry partners, professional groups and other relevant parties to develop, maintain and quality assure qualifications, credentials and standards that are nationally recognised. The majority of standard setting is carried out by Industry Skills Boards (for specific industries and professions), the Ministry of Education (for NCEA achievement standards) and NZQA. However, the Education and Training Act 2020 does allow for additional bodies to be standard setters with NZQA approval. 

  • STAR

    The Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource (STAR) is administered by MoE and delivers additional operational grant funding to all State and State-Integrated schools with year 11-13+ students to assist schools, in partnership with another provider (or workplace), to provide students alternative learning experiences to support their retention and achievement in education and to help students find suitable pathways to work or further study.

  • Statement of Intent (SOI)

    A high-level description of our operating intentions and performance expectations over the next three to five years.  It provides the base against which we will later report in our Annual Report.

  • Statement of Performance Expectations (SPE)

    Sets out our reportable class of outputs for the financial year and contains our forecasted financial statements.  We prepare this every financial year.
