Welcome to this short video which explains where we get our data from and how qualifications are displayed in Tahatū Career Navigator.
Tahatū is designed to help all New Zealanders find a career they can be proud of. It is built around three core sets of data. These are school subjects that use NCEA achievement standards data from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, career ideas that use data about jobs and pay from census and Inland Revenue data from the integrated data infrastructure.
Qualifications and courses that use information provided to us, the Tertiary Education Commission. Tahatū connects these three sets of data to show clear pathways between school qualifications and the world of work. It shows people how they can get to where they want to be, step by step.
People can see what subjects others took at school before they started a particular qualification. And people can find out what qualifications they need for a particular career idea in just one click. In Tahatū, you'll see we've grouped qualifications into study and training options, which we often refer to as clusters. This helps people understand their study and training options without feeling overwhelmed.
They can see what options are available in New Zealand in one centralised place and how the different courses and careers link together.
Displaying qualifications in this way means learners can see the information they want to know more about before making a study decision like how much does it cost? What subject should I take in school? And where can I study or train? This information all combines to help learners make a career decision before choosing a place to study.
Tahatū is the only website that combines all the study and training options for a career choice across New Zealand in one place. And if you are a provider for that study or training, links learners directly to your website.
Tahatū is developing all the time. The data we get from our tertiary education providers plays a key role. It helps power the connections and build new tools and features that will better support learners into the future.
Together we can ensure that every New Zealander can see their career pathway forward with confidence.
