The 2024 Delivery Classification Guide has now been published by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).

The Delivery Classification Guide (DCG) supports providers to correctly assign their micro-credentials, courses, and programmes to the correct delivery classification and funding category.

We have made the following changes to the 2024 DCG:

  • added more information to the introduction section on how to use the DCG;
  • updated the DCG document to align with the format of the Funding Conditions Catalogue;
  • reinforced the importance of course content and material needing to meet 90 percent of the delivery classification in to use a classification;
  • added paramedicine under Classification #17: Health Related Sciences, to reflect paramedicine being a registered profession under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003;
  • added Kōhanga Reo teaching training to courses eligible to use delivery classification #19.1: Early Childhood Education;
  • added a requirement that a “Class-A- full mission simulator” must be used to use Classification #38: Foreign-going Nautical; and
  • removed delivery classifications #40: Te Reo Māori and #41: Tikanga Māori and created the new delivery classification #42: Mātauranga and te reo Māori.

Providers have a responsibility to accurately assign each of their micro-credentials, courses and programmes to the correct delivery classification and funding category under the funding conditions.

When assigning a classification to a course, at least 90 percent of the content or subject matter must fit into the assigned classification. If we consider the delivery classification assigned to a micro-credential, course or programme could be incorrect we may contact providers for clarification and amendment.
