The TEC will allocate Equity Funding, in accordance with the funding mechanism for Equity Funding (PDF, 201 Kb)
We allocate Equity Funding for Māori and Pasifika students to tertiary education organisations (TEOs) that receive Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding at level 3 and above on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).
In accordance with Plan Guidance 2017–2018, a TEO's Investment Plan should address ways to engage with Māori and Pasifika students and their communities and transition students from secondary school into tertiary education.
We allocate Equity Funding for students with disabilities to a tertiary education institution (a university, an ITP or a wānanga).
As part of the Investment Plan process, TEOs set key performance commitments related to participation and achievement rates for Māori and Pasifika students. TEOs should aim to have Māori and Pasifika students achieving parity with other student cohorts in the areas of:
- participation in tertiary education
- completion rates and
- progression to higher levels.
We allocate Equity Funding for students with disabilities to tertiary education institutions (TEIs) that receive any SAC funding, including for provision at levels 1 and 2, and level 3 and above on the NZQF. TEIs are universities, institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs) and wānanga.
