The Government has established a University Advisory Group (UAG) to explore challenges and opportunities in the university system. The UAG’s Terms of Reference includes a specific focus on the PBRF. While the UAG’s work is ongoing, the Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills has decided that Quality Evaluation 2026 will not go ahead.

The TEC consulted with the sector and other stakeholders on a range of issues as part of implementing the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) Quality Evaluation 2026.
