Budget 2019
Budget 2019
Budget 2019 has been announced and holds positive news for tertiary education.
As part of this year’s Budget package, tuition and training subsidies have been increased through a 1.8 percent boost across a number of funds for 2020. This is the first time many funds have received increases in a number of years, and will support tertiary organisations to maintain the quality of tertiary education and training as costs such as wages and salaries increase.
Alongside the tertiary sector, extra funding has also been allocated to Home-based Early Childhood Education. There will be a volume increase in level 4 ECE qualifications, and a $1 million boost for translation of qualification content.
In the Adult and Community Education space, it was announced the Computers in Homes programme will be extended for one year. TEC is working through options for the fund extension and will provide an update soon.
