Ace Professional Development: Strategy and Development Plan 2006-2010

Adult and Community Education (ACE) - Professional Development

The ACE Professional Development Strategy and Action Plan 2006-2010 provides for a well-focused and co-ordinated approach to professional development that acknowledges and builds on existing skills within the ACE sector.

The ACE Professional Development strategy was initially implemented by the ACE Professional Development Working Group (June 2006 – June 2008).  The implementation has now been handed over to the ACE sector and is led by ACE Aotearoa.

The ACE Professional Development Strategy and Action Plan 2006-2010 (PDF, 335 Kb) is an opportunity for individuals in the ACE sector to enhance their skills and for the whole ACE sector to build its capacity and capability, and establish itself as an integral part of the tertiary education system.

It is aimed at integrating professional development into ACE practice at every level.

The strategy contains an action plan prioritising activities and identifies four main approaches to ACE professional development:

  1. Development of a sector-led working group that oversees, co-ordinates, and monitors the implementation of the strategy
  2. Formation of a core group of people to take a linking role in the sector
  3. Identification of ACE skills and competencies requiring professional development
  4. Building on ACE Networks and conferences
