Industry Training Fund

Relevant legislation

This page provides information on the legisaltive framework for Industry Training Funding.

Industry Training is primarily governed by three Acts:

  • The Industry Training Act 1992
  • The Education Act 1989
  • The Modern Apprenticeship Training Act 2000.

Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) are recognised by the Tertiary Education Commission under section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992 (the Act).

The leadership role of ITOs is defined by section 10(2)(e) of the Act (introduced by section 10 of the Industry Training Amendment Act 2002).

ITOs may be Modern Apprenticeship Co-ordinators under section 11 of the Modern Apprenticeship Training Act 2000.
