About tertiary education organisation eligibility
Eligibility criteria define which tertiary education organisations (TEOs) are eligible for a specific fund. Criteria are specified in legislation or included in a funding determination by the Minister for Tertiary Education.
TEOs may only apply for funding for which they are eligible. See Investing in a Plan for information.
Eligible organisations
These organisations are generally eligible for funding:
- Tertiary education institutions
- Private training establishments
- 'Other tertiary education providers' (OTEPs)
- Rural education activities programmes
- Schools
- Community groups accessing only Adult and Community Education and/or Foundation Learning funding.
There may be specific criteria defining eligible TEOs for particular funds.

Financial stability
TEOs, other than institutions, not providing financial performance information to the Government, including Government agencies such as the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and Ministry of Education, must provide the Tertiary Education Ccommission with an annual Financial Attestation (DOC, 70Kb).
