Design of funding mechanisms
Under the Education Act 1989, the Minister for Tertiary Education determines the design of the funding mechanisms the TEC must use to fund tertiary education organisations.
What is a funding mechanism?
A funding mechanism outlines how the TEC will fund tertiary education organisations. The funding mechanism is described in the funding determination which states the purpose of a fund, general eligibility requirements, policy parameters, and conditions on funding.
The Minister for Tertiary Education issues funding determinations to the TEC by letter under section 159L of the Education Act 1989.
