Workplace Literacy Fund

The Workplace Literacy Fund enables eligible employees to improve their literacy, language and numeracy skills.

Note: the Workplace Literacy Fund guidelines have been amended as from 16 February 2009. Please take note of the amended forms and guidelines.

Strong literacy and numeracy skills equip people to:

  • participate fully in the workplace
  • develop higher-level technical skills
  • do further study
  • cope with rapidly changing workplace demands.

Workplace Literacy Fund applications

From 16 February 2009, priority will be given to funding Part B applications where Part A applications have previously been approved.

The new Part A applications will be receipted as they are received, and funding will be approved as and when it becomes available.

There will be monthly approval rounds until 30 June 2009.

Applicants should allow six weeks for assessment and processing of applications.

First time applicants

Notwithstanding any other condition, TEOs seeking access to Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) funding for the first time must submit their financial viability documentation to the TEC at least three months before the first intake of learners for whom they are seeking TEC funding.

Use the Financial Viability Checklist on the Services for Tertiary Education Organisations website to make sure all the required information is provided.

Eligibility

Workplace Literacy funding is available to both tertiary education organisations (TEOs) and employers.

Reporting requirements

Organisations receiving Workplace Literacy funding must submit a report at the midpoint of the programme, and again at the end.

Payments

Payments are made in equal monthly instalments, on the first banking day of each month. The last payment will be released on receipt of a final report demonstrating agreed outcomes.
