ACE investment in schools for 2010
3 November 2009
Schools that will receive allocations of funding for Adult and Community Education in 2010 have been confirmed by the TEC.
The allocations for ACE programmes total approximately $2.8m.
These schools between them will have around 25,000 opportunities available for adults to improve their literacy and numeracy skills, including sign language, in a wide variety of contexts.
There are some parts of the country with a need for literacy and ACE where the proposed school-based provision is limited. The TEC has held back some ACE funding to address these needs, and will be discussing options with providers in those regions in the coming weeks.
Areas where there may need to be some additional ACE provision funded include the Hawkes Bay and East Coast regions, Southland, and Manawatu, although in most of these areas there is already a variety of other ACE opportunities available, through community providers, universities, wānanga, ITPs and REAPs.
The following table (PDF, 76 Kb) illustrates which schools have received allocations for 2010, and lists other ACE, and literacy and numeracy, options in those regions.
