Today, the TEC met a major milestone for the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) 2018 Quality Evaluation with the release of the PBRF IT System.

We introduced the system during the 2012 Quality Evaluation to ensure more efficient and less labour-intensive submission and assessment processes. We have updated the system to reflect changes in the 2018 Quality Evaluation and to improve functionality.

The PBRF encourages and rewards excellent research in New Zealand’s degree-granting organisations. The Quality Evaluation is the major component of the PBRF and is an assessment of the research performance of staff at participating tertiary education organisations (TEOs).

PBRF Principal Advisor Amber Flynn says the IT system has been launched 12 months before the preliminary submission date for tertiary education organisations (TEOs).

“Our aim is to provide the TEOs with as much time as possible to prepare for the 2018 Quality Evaluation. Over the next 12 months we will work to ensure TEO Administrators are able to carry out the tasks required to submit individual researcher Evidence Portfolios, supporting documentation, and the Staff Data file that is required of all participating TEOs,” she says.

We have published a quick start guide and IT system user manual to help TEO administrators who will be using the PBRF IT System.
