New Zealand’s three wānanga provide quality education using Māori ways of teaching and learning; contributing towards the survival and well-being of Māori as a people.

Wānanga also have a continuing role to play in re-engaging learners into education.

The types of funding accessed by wānanga include Adult and Community Education (ACE), Student Achievement Component (SAC),  Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) and Youth Guarantee. More information about these funds can be found in our Fund finder section.

Te Tauihu o Ngā Wānanga represents the country’s wānanga.

Visit the wānanga page on this website for more information.
