Universities
There are eight universities in New Zealand, which provide extensive degree and postgraduate education of international quality.
Universities' research is carried out in a broad range of fields. They engage with external stakeholders (communities, business, industry, iwi and the research community) in the dissemination and application of knowledge and in promoting learning.
They receive funding from the PBRF and also host the country’s Centres of Research Excellence.
Universities also provide sub-degree programmes such as ACE[1] and access a wide range of funding including:
- ACE and ACE networks
- ESOL[2]
- specialist services for disadvantaged groups
- intensive literacy and numeracy provision
- SAC[3]
- Training Opportunities, and
- Youth Training.
NZVCC represents the country’s universities.
