Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy consultation

The Tertiary Education Commission consulted in January-February 2015 to refresh its Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy (the Strategy).

The Strategy sets out how we will work with the tertiary sector, with employers and across government from 2015 to 2019 to lift literacy and numeracy skills.

The Strategy has been developed following consultation with stakeholders in the tertiary sector and with employers.

The current Strategy

The TEC Board adopted and publicly released the current Adult Literacy and Numeracy Implementation Strategy 2012 (PDF, 512 Kb) in September 2012.

The new Strategy

The new draft Strategy (PDF, 238 Kb) will guide our work in adult literacy and numeracy from 2016 to 2020. It has been developed after consultation with our stakeholders earlier this year. We published this feedback in February.

Next steps

Recently we invited stakeholders' feedback on our new draft Strategy and that consultation has now closed.

We are planning to finalise the Strategy by September.
