Rule SAC019: Qualifications - approval timeline

Tertiary education organisations (TEOs) submitting qualifications for approval for Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding or, additionally, learner access to student allowances and the Student Loan Scheme, must do all the following:

  • Submit the application for approval using the Services for Tertiary Education Organisations website
  • Send the appropriate approval documentation from the external quality assurance body to the Tertiary Education Commision (TEC) at least:
    • eight weeks before the start of the first course if the TEO seeks learner access to student allowances and the Student Loan Scheme (to allow time for learners to apply for student allowances and loans)
    • two weeks before the start of the first course if the TEO seeks SAC funding only.
  • Discuss the changes with the TEC at least 18 months before the proposed start date if a new qualification is longer than three years.
