Rule ENR140: ALE learner eligibility

For a tertiary education organisation (TEO) to receive Adult Literacy Educator funding, learners enrolled in approved qualifications must be 18 years or older and meet both of the following:

• Have the academic ability to complete the programme of study that leads to the approved qualification
• Have commitment to work in the adult literacy and numeracy education sector.

Note: priority will be given to learners who are involved in providing adult literacy and numeracy activities in paid or voluntary employment and/or have a minimum of two years teaching experience (preferably in the adult literacy and numeracy area), have met any other eligibility criteria set by the TEO and are New Zealand citizens or have permanent residency status in New Zealand.
