Call English for Migrants team at the TEC Service Centre . We currently have staff who can speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Language Line is also available.

After you have selected which course you want to study, please visit the provider and bring along your passport, and the "Agreement and Schedule" that you were given by New Zealand Immigration (a receipt issued by New Zealand Immigration to show you have paid the "Pre-purchased Tuition Fees"). The provider will assist you to enrol in the course you choose.

You will need to pay the extra fees yourself.

The course directory tells you what your fee covers for each course. Your Training Provider will advise you of any extra costs not included in the fee before you enrol.

No. You can do any number of English courses, with any TEC approved provider, until you have used all the money you pre-paid.

Only if you have pre-paid your tuition to New Zealand Immigration under the policy which began on November 30th 1998. If you are unsure about whether you are eligible to study under the English for Migrants scheme, feel free to contact the English for Migrants Team at the TEC Service Centre .

Yes, the directories include daytime and evening courses.

Discuss any problems with the training provider first. If this does not solve the problem, call English for Migrants team at the TEC Service Centre . If you leave a course, you may lose some of your fees.

Tuition expires 5 years from the date of payment. The expiry date is not related to your arrival date in New Zealand. For example, If you paid Immigration New Zealand for your English tuition fee on 15 October 2003 but arrived in New Zealand on 12th July 2004, your expiry date will be 15 Oct 2008.
