It is difficult to compare performance information across the different sub-sectors as they often focus on different types of education and training.

  • Universities for example have nearly all their students at degree or post-graduate study.
  • In the wānanga and private training establishment sub-sectors, different providers focus on different levels of study, as well as different types of students.

Data provided

The Tertiary Education Strategy calls for better performance from the tertiary education sector, as well as raising achievement for all learners under 25 and for Māori and Pacific learners.
The information under each sub-sector shows how those groups performed in 2009 and 2010 compared to all students.
