What does it cost?
Learners are usually required to pay fees, which typically consist of tuition fees and other course costs. Most tertiary education is subsidised by the government, but learners typically end up with some of their costs covered by the Student Loan Scheme. Some learners qualify for student allowances while studying (contact Studylink for more information on how to apply).
There are some programmes that are provided at no charge to the learner, such as the Youth Guarantee, Gateway and Training Opportunities programmes. You’ll need to look carefully to see if you are eligible to enrol in any of these programmes. You may even qualify for a travel allowance to help you get there.
