Institutes of Technologies and Polytechnics (ITPs)

Industry Training and Skill Development

If you are a person in the Canterbury region who is employed and interested in skill development or workplace education you may wish to contact the Industry Training Organisation with coverage for your industry. If you are interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry, including any of the building, plumbing, infrastructure, electrical, flooring or joinery industries, you may wish to contact the following ITOs about opportunities available:

Modern Apprenticeships

If you are aged between 16-21 years of age, you may also consider pursuing an apprenticeship in an industry of your choice. Further information on apprenticeships are available at http://www.modern-apprenticeships.govt.nz/. You can also call 0800 4 APPRENTICE to speak to someone directly.

Careers New Zealand

Careers New Zealand can also provide you with advice on particular areas relating to qualifications you may currently hold or wish to achieve, and career pathways that may be relevant to you.
