Building and Construction ITO (BCITO)

BCITO has developed trainee management systems and processes aimed to implement and embed performance improvements.

All of BCITO’s trainees have an individualised training plan which is used to monitor the performance of the trainee against a standard achievement graph. The trainee and the employer have a risk assessment matrix applied which identifies trainees at risk. This ensures that any potential barriers to completion are identified early, and that targeted mitigation steps are put in place to support the timely completion of qualifications.

Electricity Supply ITO (ESITO)

With the replacement of ESITO’s current trainee management system (ITOMIC) to align with the TEC’s Industry Training Register, ESITO’s trainee management system is being refined. Consultation with employers and trainees has enabled ESITO to ensure that the system becomes more ‘user friendly’.

ESITO is one of the few ITOs to have a web-based self-service interface.  This interface enables trainees, employers, coordinators, assessors and moderators to access trainee progress information, and to enter assessment data.

Employers can have immediate access to this interface and report on all of their trainees. This interface is connected live to the database, ensuring that data is current and frequently updated.

While this initial development was commissioned by ESITO, the ITO has allowed the intellectual property to remain with the vendor. ESITO expects this tool may be helpful to other ITOs seeking to improve customer satisfaction and achieve greater efficiencies in their operations.

NZ Marine ITO

The NZ Marine Industry Training Organisation has developed a purpose-built, online learning management system called “RudderLive”.  This online facility utilises interactive 3-D modelling, self-marking tests, case studies and other audio and video components.

RudderLive is intended to cater to all learning styles, with the added ability for NZ Marine’s trainees to access their own individual learning plans.

Embedded literacy and numeracy is a key component to RudderLive.The online learning management system includes interventions to support trainees to lift their literacy and numeracy skills.
