The NZQA has provided some quick links for businesses to help explain the qualifications system.

International

The New Zealand Government Residence Policy requires immigrants under the Skilled Migrant Category to have qualifications assessed as part of their application. Many international qualifications do not require an NZQA qualification assessment for immigration purposes. The List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment (formerly known as the List of Recognised Qualifications) was revised with effect from 25 May 2009.

Evidence of qualifications claimed

Qualifications awarded by the Councils of universities, ITPs and wānanga are public records. Contact can be made with the respective institutions to view the Roll of Graduates or validate the details of specific qualifications awarded. Charges may apply.
