Overseas travel

This policy is to ensure that:

  • public funds are spent appropriately
  • any overseas travel paid for from public funds is a legitimate academic requirement of the course to which it relates
  • learners subsidised from public funds enrol for educational purposes rather than the incentive of paid overseas travel.

Fees and course costs must not include overseas travel costs unless approved by us. TEOs may only include overseas travel as part of a course if meeting the requirements of Condition SAC128[1].

This applies to all TEOs accessing SAC funding, and PTEs receiving a grant under section 321 of the Education Act 1989. This is achieved through our assessment of individual applications for inclusion of publicly-funded overseas travel in such courses.
