Annual Maximum Fee Movement (AMFM)

Condition SAC102[1] specifies the maximum amount of any increase to fee or course costs. This is generally four percent per year, except for courses with fees under $444.44 (excl GST) per EFTS.

We may grant an exception to the AMFM under exceptional circumstances, under condition SAC352.

Condition SAC102: AMFM application to courses

The Annual Maximum Fee Movement (AMFM) applies to non-degree, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses approved for Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding delivered to domestic students by Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) receiving SAC funding. It also applies to courses funded under section 321 of the Education Act 1989.

TEOs may increase fee/course costs by a maximum of 4% per year (excl. GST).

If the fee/course costs for a course are less than $444.44 (excl. GST) per Equivalent Full-Time Student (EFTS) unit, the TEO can increase fee/course costs to $444.44 (excl. GST) per EFTS unit, or by 4%, whichever is greater.
