Youth Guarantee

Youth Guarantee Payment

A Youth Guarantee payment of $4,500 for each Youth Guarantee EFTS[1] will be paid to providers to cover pastoral care costs and student fees.

The $4,500 Youth Guarantee payment associated with each Youth Guarantee EFTS will be treated separately to the SAC[2] component. If a provider delivers less than 100% of its allocated Youth Guarantee EFTS, the Youth Guarantee payment for each undelivered EFTS will be recovered.  For example, if a provider delivers 33 of its 35 allocated EFTS, the $4,500 Youth Guarantee payment for the two undelivered EFTS will be recovered.

Students are responsible for providing non-compulsory items for Youth Guarantee courses themselves (the same applies to non-Youth Guarantee students).

Examples of costs which are not eligible to be covered by compulsory fees include:

  • knives
  • hairdressing scissors
  • safety glasses and footwear
  • scientific calculators
  • text books
  • uniforms
  • general stationery

Providers could make non-compulsory items available for students to use for the duration of the course on the same ownership basis as for other students. These items will be owned by the providers but the availability of them will ensure that students are able to complete the course without having to acquire the items themselves.
