2012 PTE additional SAC funding
Budget 2011 set aside an additional $5.25 million of SAC funding (approximately 750 EFTS) for high-performing PTEs. This funding is available for PTEs currently receiving SAC funding (existing PTEs) and PTEs new to SAC (new PTEs) and is available from 2012 onward.
We will prioritise funding to PTEs that demonstrate their contribution to the economic development of New Zealand and target Tertiary Education Strategy (TES) 2010 - 2015 priority learner groups.
We are piloting an online funding application management system to manage the completion, submission and assessment of applications. We expect approximately 100 new and current PTEs will apply for this funding. Each PTE will be able to apply for a maximum of $500,000 (GST exclusive) only.
Eligibility and assessment
The detailed eligibility and assessment criteria for this allocation process align with the Investment Plan (Plan) gazetted decision-making criteria used to assess Plans and are outlined below.
The following document provides more detailed information (benchmarks, considerations and evidence) for each of the Plan gazetted decision-making criteria to assist PTEs in completing an application.
We will assess applications using the information and evidence submitted in the application and any information that the TEC currently holds for PTE applicants. Proposed 2012 Plans will also inform the assessment of applications.
If your application is successful, your proposed 2012 Plan will need to be updated to reflect this additional funding. We will work with successful PTEs to update their Plans for final funding decisions.
Submitting an application
You can apply for funding via the WebGrants online application management system. You are only required to submit one application.
This system is now available for you to register, complete and submit an application. Applications close on 1 November 2011. You will not be able to submit an application after this date.
We expect to notify you of the outcome of the process by late November 2011.
Online application management system
This online application management system will streamline the way we manage application and review processes.
As this is a pilot system, it is not yet integrated with ESSA and therefore you will need to complete a one-off registration process. Registration will take up to one business day so please register straight away. Once registration is complete you will receive a confirmation email with login details. It recommended that during the first login you change password details using the ‘My Profile’ option. Please contact the TEC’s Service Centre on 0800 601 301 or servicecentre@tec.govt.nz if you need assistance using or accessing the system.
Please read the “Grantee Instructions” and “Help” sections available within the system for information on completing an application. Please also note that the system will present standard USA programming, e.g. the spelling of some words and date-format. In the long-term these will be adjusted to NZ-standards.
We are hoping to gather feedback from you on the capability of the system. This will help us with ongoing design and future customisation. This feedback will take the form of a survey as part of our pilot review.
