Special Supplementary Grants (SSGs) for Special Education were established to promote, through one-to-one work with tutorial staff, the acquisition of knowledge and skills to equip learners with learning disabilities to take part in the social and economic life of New Zealand.
The SSG: Special Education funding is agreed through the Investment Plan. Delivery of the Plan is monitored by us.
Any TEO[1] that receives funding must abide by a number of rules and conditions.
Access to funding for SSG: Special Education will be considered in accordance with government policy (as directed by the Minister’s determination under section 159L of the Education Act 1989), the Tertiary Education Strategy and in response to performance.
