SSG: Medical Trainee Intern funding is allocated outside of the Investment Plan process, through a Funding Agreement, and the delivery of activities is monitored by us.

Funding is based on the number of sixth year medical trainee interns in each annual intake. It is paid out in monthly amounts and is calculated by the number of EFTS[1] places taken up each year. The annual grant is $26,756 (GST exempt) per EFTS.

Any TEO[2] that receives funding must abide by a number of rules and conditions

Access to SSG: Medical Trainee Intern funding is considered in accordance with government policy (as directed by the Minister’s determination under section 159L of the Education Act 1989), the Tertiary Education Strategy.
