Adult Literacy Educator Fund

Funding and payments

Funding rate

The TEC allocated the Adult Literacy Educator (ALE) Fund to a tertiary education organisation (TEO) on the basis of a specified number of places in programmes leading to literacy and numeracy qualifications at level 5 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).

The funding rate is $2,000 per learner, to contribute to the learner's fees.

Payments are made in equal monthly instalments.

Minimum achievement levels and recovery of funding

For ALE funding, a minimum of 80 percent of learners must complete 40 credits towards an approved ALE qualification over a 12-month period.

If the 80 percent threshold is not met, recovery will be the difference between the percentage of completions achieved within the 12-month timeframe, and approved funding (100 percent).
