Funding and payments
The total amount of funding for allocation under the Search and Rescue ((SAR) Adult and Community Education (ACE) Provision funding mechanism in 2016 is up to $1.3 million.
The TEC allocates funding for SAR (ACE) provision per equivalent full-time student (EFTS).
One equivalent full-time student (EFTS) is defined as the learner workload that would normally be carried out by a learner enrolled full-time in a single academic or calendar year.
The TEC allocates funding to a tertiary education organisation (TEO) for SAR (ACE) provision at a fixed rate of $8,400 per EFTS (GST exclusive).
The TEC pays funding for SAR (ACE) provision in monthly instalments on the first banking day of each month. Payment amounts are equal from January to June, and equal from July to December.
As per Condition SAR012, if a TEO receives funding that is greater than it should have been, or that it was not entitled to receive, the TEO must treat the amount of the over-funding as a debt due to the Crown.
This includes under-delivery of SAR (ACE) provision if a TEO delivers less provision at course level than it was funded for. In that situation, the TEC will recover the difference between the TEO’s actual delivery and 100% of the SAR (ACE) provision funding given to the TEO.
