Industry Training Register update on preparing for the ITR
What should ITOs and MACs be doing to prepare for the ITR?
ITOs and MACs should be:
- preparing to re-register all of their active programmes with the ITR (see below)
- understanding how the ITR will work by reviewing the latest version (8) of the Business Impacts Guide document and the ITR Schema Definitions documents (see below)
- understanding how the ITR will ‘talk’ to your IT systems by reviewing the ITR Guide to Integration document (see below)
- working together to make sure that the correct information about Modern Apprentices can be reported (see below)
- reviewing the ITR presentation that was given at the ITF conference, checking the frequently-asked questions and sending any further queries to ITRfeedback@tec.govt.nz
- checking that you have responded to the recent questionnaire on ITR readiness.
What has the TEC done in the past few weeks?
In the past few weeks we have done a number of things including:
- built the facility to create programmes and check against the business rules for programme registration
- scoped the requirements to create new versions and update programmes
- tested the facility for your IT systems to ‘talk’ to the ITR
- starting work to define the specific requirements for registering enrolments with the ITR.
What is re-registering programmes all about?
ITOs will be required to re-register all of their active programmes so that they can use the ITR for reporting from 1 January 2011.
ITOs should not assume that currently approved programmes will be valid under the ITR without changes. ITOs need to take the following steps to make sure that their programmes are valid:
- reviewing the latest version (8) of the Business Impacts Guide document and the ITR Schema Definitions documents;
- updating or expiring qualifications and programmes as required;
- updating trainee information (including getting master NSNs for all trainees)
- updating information about Training Agreements and enrolments.
Version 8 of the Business Impacts Guide and Schema definitions released
We are pleased to release version 8 of the Business Impacts Guide document and the ITR Schema Definitions document.
These documents explain how the ITR will work and what sorts of things ITOs and MACs can be doing now to prepare for the introduction of the ITR. The schema defines the data structure.
Industry Training Register Guide to Integration for TMS Vendors
We are pleased to release the ITR Guide to Integration document which explains how the ITR will talk to your IT systems.
This document describes the structure and format of the messages that your IT systems will send to the ITR.
Just like the Business Impacts Guide document and the ITR Schema Definitions documents we will update this document as the project progresses.
What are the reporting requirements for Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinators?
Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinators (MACs) are required to supply the following information about Training Plans to ITOs. ITOs are then required to supply the following information to the TEC via the ITR:
- the start date of the training plan
- the MAC that is supporting the Modern Apprentice
- the dates that the MAC has visited the trainee.
A description of the new requirements is included in the Business Impacts Guide document. These requirements will also be added to the ITR Schema Definitions document as part of the next version.
