6 December 2011
The draft data definition & data rules we will use for calculating education performance indicators (EPIs) have been completed. We used ITR information, submitted by industry training organisations (ITOs). We have placed a copy of the information on each ITO’s work space.
We will provide a supporting data set early next week. This data set provided year-to-date EPI results and data used to calculate the EPIs. ITOs can use the data set to reconcile the data held in their TMS with that being drawn from the ITR to calculate the EPIs. For the EPI relating to student progression, the data set only contains trainee records where the trainee progresses within the ITO. Information on individual trainee progression to other tertiary education organisations is not provided due to possible privacy concerns.
Feedback on data definition and data rules for education performance indicators
Feedback on the draft data definition and data rules for EPIs is sought by 20 December. As the draft data definition and data rules are based on a previously released document, one cycle of feedback will be conducted.
Feedback on supporting data
The TEC will be conducting an ongoing process of feedback on the data supporting the calculation of ITO EPIs. The first data set, showing year-to-date results for EPIs, will be released during the week ending 10 December 2011. Subsequent data sets showing full-year results for EPIs will be released in January, February, and March 2012.
The TEC is looking to finalise:
- Trainee enrolment data by 31 January 2012 to enable under-delivery wash-up to occur.
- EPI results by 31 March 2012.
- Offsets by 31 March 2012 to enable principle based exceptions to be applied and an offset wash-up to occur.
How to provide feedback
If you have any feedback or issues, please contact the TEC’s Service Centre at servicecentre@tec.govt.nz or on 0800 601 301. Where the Service Centre cannot answer the query it will refer it to the appropriate staff.
