The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is undertaking a review of funding for the training of search and rescue volunteers, and invites feedback.
Policy changes in tertiary education have affected funding and the sustainability of training for this sector, particularly for volunteers.
The discussion document, Search and Rescue Tertiary Funding, poses these issues as questions for feedback:
- In the context of the developing tertiary education system, is the search and rescue training, that meets the needs of the sector, sustainable?
- If not, what are the options to ensure the training needs of the search and rescue sector are met sustainably.
The TEC also invites comments on any other matters relating to tertiary funding of search and rescue education and training that the sector believes need attention.
Due date for feedback
The TEC seeks one submission from each organisation, and recommends that the organisation representing a wider sector or group of volunteer sectors, collates all individual submissions and provides a summary of these submissions.

Feedback would be appreciated as soon as possible, but no later than 5pm, Friday 18 November 2011. All feedback should include the subject line “Search and Rescue Funding Review – feedback”.
