Foundation-level industry trainees can enrol in Workplace Literacy and Numeracy funded programmes

4 July 2016

Foundation-level industry trainees can enrol in programmes funded through the Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Fund and continue their industry training at the same time.

Industry trainees who are enrolled in level 1 and 2 industry training programmes and who have been assessed as being at step 3 or below for reading, and/or step 4 or below for numeracy, can enrol in Workplace Literacy and Numeracy programmes (both provider- and employer-led programmes).

The industry trainees must meet all of the learner eligibility requirements for the Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Fund.

Apprentices and industry trainees enrolled in programmes at level 3 and above are not eligible for Workplace Literacy and Numeracy funded provision. However, apprentices and industry trainees who have been assessed as being at step 2 or below in reading and/or numeracy are eligible to enrol in programmes funded through the Intensive Literacy and Numeracy Fund.

We expect this development to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of learners already in industry training and further enhance collaboration between literacy and numeracy providers, industry training organisations and employers.
