The Tertiary Education Commission says that ensuring those enrolled with the Creative Trades Industry Training Organisation (CTITO) are not adversely affected is the priority following the ITO's decision to cease trading.
CTITO ceased trading on 14 January 2011.
To ensure students' training is not affected, three related ITOs will take over the management of CTITO's industry training responsibilities.
The ITOs are:
- The Building and Construction ITO, which will now have coverage for the Brick and block laying industry, and the monumental and stone masonry industry
- The New Zealand Flooring ITO, which will now have coverage for painting and decorating
- The Communications and Media ITO which will now have coverage for sign-making
“The TEC is working with these three ITOs, the Industry Training Federation (ITF) and the Chair of CTITO to contact all affected employers, trainees and modern apprentices to assure them that their training will continue”, says TEC CEO Roy Sharp.
“To ensure that this transition occurs as smoothly as possible, the ITF has engaged the field workers from CTITO to manage the transition period with employers and trainees.”
