We play a a key role in improving the tertiary education of all New Zealanders, including Pacific peoples. The Pacific work programme is an internal document that focuses on key priorities for the TEC in giving effect to the TES[1] and its attention to Pacific peoples. It guides the work of the TEC to influence the tertiary system and its contribution to Pacific development, progress and achievement. With close alignment to the Pacific Education Plan 2009-2012, the Pacific work programme contributes to these areas:
- building strong learning foundations to ensure Pacific students participate, engage and achieve at level stage of their education
- lifting Pacific literacy and numeracy achievement in schools and at the tertiary level, and
- increasing the number of Pacific students leaving school with qualifications to enable them to enter the workforce or go into further education and training.
