He Rama ki Ara Poutama - Revealing pathways to educational opportunities

'He Rama ki Ara Poutama' is an internal document that focuses on key priorities for the TEC in giving effect to the tertiary education strategy (TES) and its attention to Māori. It guides our work with the tertiary sector and its contribution to Māori development, progress and achievement. 

In support of Ka Hikitia - Managing for Success: the Māori Education Strategy 2008-2012, the TEC is focused on TES priorities for increasing Māori access, participation and achievement in tertiary education, including:

• successful school to tertiary transitions for Māori
• increasing Māori education success, particularly level 4 and above by age 25
• increasing levels of language, literacy and numeracy in the workforce and communities
• increasing Māori achievement across tertiary study in advanced trade, technical and professional qualifications to meet regional and national industry needs.
